Joe and James on track for Scarlett

Cycling

Wolverhampton Mountain Biker Joe Deans cycled 38 gruelling miles across the Isle of Man in the “End to End” mountain bike challenge in September and raised £210 for the Wolverhampton wheelchair charity POWER PLEAS to go towards a trike for a disabled child. Joe presented the cheque to five year old James Padfield on Tuesday 22nd November at Aldersley Stadium. James was the inspiration for Joe who has triked over 100 miles in his trike. James’ mother, Sarah, says, “The trike given to James by POWER PLEAS has been life-changing and is an integral part of our family life. Where we go, the Trike goes too!”

The presentation took place at Aldersley Stadium, arguably the home of Wolverhampton Cycling, and James followed it with a celebratory lap of honour round the track. James did not hold on to the cheque for very long as Paula Davies, treasurer of POWER PLEAS, was on on hand to take it away and help to pay for a trike, just ordered, for Scarlett, a Wolverhampton 3 year old who desperately needs a trike to aid her development.
